Decorative Rock Installation
Decorative rock gives a yard clean lines and lasting color with far less water and upkeep than lawn. Salen’s Landscaping installs river rock, cobble, gravel, colored rock and accent boulders for front yards, side yards, dry creek beds and planter areas across the Sacramento region.
Decomposed Granite (DG)
Decomposed granite makes a natural-looking, firm surface for paths, sitting areas and the spaces between plantings. It drains well and suits a water-wise yard. We prepare and grade the base, set borders where they are needed, and spread and compact the DG so it stays in place.
Mulch and Bark Installation
Mulch and bark finish planting beds, help the soil hold moisture through Sacramento summers and help keep weeds down. We install bark and mulch around new and existing plantings, along fences and in commercial beds, and haul away old material when it needs replacing.

Many customers combine rock, DG and bark with drought-tolerant plants to replace thirsty lawn. Rock and bark can be paired with borders, walkways, irrigation and landscape lighting, so the whole yard is finished in one project.

Every rock, DG or bark job starts with the ground underneath. Our crews remove weeds, old rock or turf, grade the area so water drains away from the house, and prepare the soil before any material goes down. Borders keep rock and bark where they belong, and our own trucks deliver material and haul away debris.
